We were instructed by Mr Hetherington, from Chester-le Street, following his involvement in a serious road traffic accident in October 2012. Mr Hetherington was 23 years old and in full time employment.
He was on the road next to the barriers assisting another person who had been involved in a road traffic accident when a motorist drove into him, crushing him between the barrier and the car.
Mr Hetherington sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured pelvis, urethral tear, lacerations and bruising, as well as significant psychological injuries.
We were able to obtain a settlement of £250,000 for Mr Hetherington which included an award for future loss of earnings, although happily Mr Hetherington was able to return to work.
