There are lots of reasons to remortgage a property. With many lenders offering different mortgage deals, you may want to remortgage to take advantage of favourable interest rates.

Many people remortgage to change the repayment terms of the contract. This is often done to dovetail with the client’s retirement date. A number of our clients remortgage simply to free up some capital. Whatever your reason, our friendly legal team can carry out the transaction quickly and efficiently.

We will contact the land registry to make sure your new mortgage is registered correctly and deal with all the legal documentation.

What’s the process of remortgaging?

It is always important to carefully review your situation and the mortgage options available, comparing interest rates between different mortgages is a good place to start. The remortgaging process can typically take 4-8 weeks after you apply (this can always change depending on circumstances). After reviewing your options the process is as follows:

  • Get an AiP (Agreement in Principle)
  • Apply for your new mortgage
  • Instruct a solicitor
  • Get a property valuation
  • Completion
