Compensation for back injuries will depend on the nature and severity of the injury and the period of recovery. For moderate back injuries, please see below for a rough guide on what may be rewarded:

• Disturbance of ligaments and muscles giving rise to backache, soft tissue injuries resulting in prolonged acceleration and/or exacerbation of a pre-existing back condition – up to £24,340
• Compression/crush fracture of the lumbar vertebrae, traumatic spondylolisthesis, prolapsed intervertebral disc requiring surgery – up to £34,000
