Job Title: Residential Conveyancing Clerk
Location: Sunderland
Accountable to: Head of Private Client

Overall Objectives of the Post:

The post holder will work under the supervision of a Conveyancer or Solicitor. The Conveyancing Clerk will provide assistance to the department. Such a role encompasses a broad range of support tasks and requires commitment to team working, prioritisation of skills and flexibility.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To carry out administrative support to the department
  • Sending terms of engagement and estimates of fees and disbursements
  • Checking clients’ ID
  • Speaking to new and existing clients and managing caseloads
  • Providing regular updates to and corresponding with clients, other Solicitors and introducers
  • Preparing contract packs
  • Dealing with searches and additional enquiries
  • Assisting Solicitors, Conveyancers and other Fee Earners drafting documents and letters
  • Advancing cases under supervision
  • General admin tasks such as photocopying and scanning documents
  • An ability to work as part of a team and possessing key organisational and communication skills is essential.  A friendly, professional and outgoing telephone manner is essential.
  • The caseload will include all matters relating to freehold and leasehold properties from instruction through to completion.
  • The successful applicant must have previous experience and knowledge of the conveyancing process
  • Be willing to gain new knowledge and skills to enable the department to progress.
  • Be willing to perform a variety of tasks to assist in any area of the business as the business needs require.
